  • Visit the 100-Foot Christmas Tree: Old School Square at the west end of downtown Delray Beach is the location for Delray\'s world-famous 100-foot Christmas Tree, with“ice-skating”, mini-golf and a Carousel! The Tree is open every day until January 1st from 10am-9pm. The kids\' most frequently asked question is Is it real? Visitors can walk through the 100ft Christmas Tree and see different scenes that include a reindeer barn, Santa’s Workshop, Twas the Night before Christmas house and every kid’s favorite, the Train House!  

  • Hit the Beaches: With 2 miles of public beaches, Atlantic Dunes Park and Delray Public Beach are beautiful public beaches at the east end of Atlantic Avenue. Stroll to the beach and stop at one of the many beach stores on both sides of The Avenue for floaties, sunscreen, shades or buckets and shovels.  Trained lifeguards are on duty from 9 to 5, 365 days a year. Lounge chairs and umbrellas are available for rent.If the kids want a few water activities there include surf lessons, paddle boards, kayaks and jet skis for rent, and kite surfing! 

  • Play Putt-Putt: Play miniature golf with the whole family at Putt\'n Around, a short walk off The Avenue. Little pink buildings, gardens, fish statues, seashells, a magical mermaid - plus alligators - with 36 holes of mini golf guarantee this will be a family favorite. 

  • Ride the Free Trolley: Delray Beach\'s free downtown trolley back and forth on Atlantic Avenue from the Tri-Rail Station to the ocean, 7 days a week, is a perfect sight-seeing trip for tired kids. Look for the Free Trolley Stop signs on both sides of The Avenue. 

  • Feed The Sharks: Feed the sharks, adopt an animal, learn about marine life or touch a sea star at The Sandoway Discovery Center, which showcases the unique marine life and ecosystems of South Florida in a lavish educational and preservation center that welcomes kids of all ages! 

  • Visit an Art Museum: Designed to promote the enjoyment and creation of art for everyone in Delray Beach, Arts Garage offers diverse and fun exhibits, art creation opportunities, concerts, poetry readings - and so much more. Many events are scheduled in December, including spoken word poetry, jazz, saxophone players, pianists, R&B, and more. All venues are handicapped accessible and visitors are welcome to bring their own meals and refreshments, including alcohol. 

  • Go For a Bike Ride: Delray Beach has many side streets with little car traffic for the kids to take a scenic bike trip - and work off a little energy! Richwagen\'s bike rentals is a short walk from Atlantic Avenue and has bikes for the whole family for rent - including eBikes! 

  • Take a Cruise:  Delray Yacht Cruises has several sightseeing cruises every day up and down the Intracoastal Waterway. Special cruises include sunset cruises, dinner cruises and Sunday brunch. Drinks and snacks are also available for purchase.

  • Video Games and Pinball Machines:  Silverball Museum in downtown Delray Beach features classic pinball machines and arcade games from as far back as the 1930s. Games require an entry pass - kids 4 and under are FREE. 

  • Visit an Outdoor Market; The Delray Beach GreenMarket is an outdoor market staple open every Saturday in the winter at Old School Square Park. Kids can create their own smoothie with tropical flavors and colors, sample local goodies, and listen to live music.

  • Playground With a View:  Veteran\'s Park on Atlantic Avenue next to the Intracoastal Waterway is a tranquil park with a picnic area, gazebo and playground. Watch the boats go by, play on the monkey bars or have a picnic in the heart of downtown Delray Beach. 

  • Indoor Play Gym;  Delray Beach kid\'s gym Barrel O Monkeys is on 5th Avenue in downtown Delray Beach, just north of Atlantic Avenue offering classes and open gym for kids as young as 6 months up to 8 years old. Structured classes, free play, drop-offs, creative classes and parents night out are a few of the gym options available. 

  • December 31st – Delray Beach New Year’s Eve Family Celebration Delray Beach celebrates New Year\'s Eve with a family friendly event from 5-9pm on the grounds of Old School Square. The Carousel, Mini-Golf and Ice Skating will be available for $3, and food trucks will be on site. The fireworks finale will launch from the Old School Square Parking Garage at 9pm. Free activities also.
