As hard as you work to pay for your home, make sure to be comfortable and happy where you decide to live. Breaking a lease is not cheap and moving every few years because you choose the wrong place isn't either.

Check the school ratings
Check the location of bus stops
Check the distance to your job and maybe do a test drive during rush hour
Is the community well kept (make sure to drive around)
Is the office staff friendly and helpful
When touring a unit can you hear the neighbors
Walk to the exact location of your apartment
What amenities do they have
What do they do in natural disasters like hurricanes
Ask if they typically raise rents at renewal and at what percentage
Check the online reviews (just use this to ask questions)
Do they have any specials
What is the building made of
How old are the appliances
What hours does maintenance work
This creates a private checklist in your account.
