Tips for Apartment Hunting in Chicago

It's a messy world out there with apartment rental advertisements. Tread carefully.

Don't listen to agents who say there is nothing available. There is always something available.

Be flexible on your move date and neighborhood if you can. It may save your search!

Craigslist is full of spam. So are several other websites. It's the fact of the matter. However, you can still find gems!

Bring checks with you as well as proof of income. You don't need pay stubs, but an offer letter is needed.

Make sure your credit is in check. You may need to bring up your score to get approved for an apartment.

No place is perfect. Know what are must haves in a place apart from nice-to-haves.

Drive around neighborhoods before applying for a place. It'll give you a good idea if it's the right fit for your lifestyle.

Have an experienced agent help you search. More than likely, you won't have to pay that agent.
