Steps To Take Before Switching Your WordPress Theme
Changing your WordPress theme will not delete any post or page data, but there are still a few steps you’ll want to take before you make the move.
EDIT OLD POSTS TO REMOVE SHORTCODES FROM YOUR THEME.
Shortcodes added by your theme Won't work when you switch to a new one. Remove them from old posts and page.
CHECK YOUR WIDGETS: BE PREPARED TO LOSE ANY FROM YOUR THEME.
If you're using any widgets from your theme, you'll lose those in the move. Be prepared!
BACKUP ANY TEXT WIDGETS
Sometimes widgets can randomly disappear during a move. Make Sure you backup any you can’t easily replace.
PUT YOUR SITE IN MAINTENANCE MODE
Make your site only accessible to you so you can work through the transition with privacy.
