Online Learning Tips for Parents
If your preschool or Pre-K child is attending a LIVE online class, here are some things you can do to help it go more smoothly.
1. Set up your computer so your child can easily see the computer screen and can remain hands free to draw or participate in an action oriented activity.
2. Try to have your child facing a window or other source of light so that the teacher can better see and talk to your child.
3. Choose a room where your child will be able to hear and turn off any background noise or other competing sounds.
4. Plan to stay with your child so that you can encourage your child to participate in the lesson.
5. Listen in to what the teacher is reading or sharing so that you can talk about it with your child after the lesson is over.
6. Use any content your child's teacher provides as a springboard for extending the learning at home.
7. Keep the rest of your day focused on real life learning through play and exploration.
