Chicago Summer Bucket List 2017: Not For Tourist Edition

We live for Chicago summers! Here's a list of some of the best things for Chicagoans to do in Chicago during the summer months

  • Watch a movie in the park at the new park at Wrigley Field

  • Pack a picnic and go see a concert at Ravinia

  • Go to Andy's Jazz Club to listen to some great live music

  • Plan a beach day with friends

  • Listen to live music at Waterfront Cafe

  • Enjoy a prosecco popsicle Upstairs at the Gwen

  • Take the water taxi to Chinatown and eat Tony's Chicken at Lao Sze Chaun

  • Have a cocktail or two a Island Party Hut on the Riverwalk

  • Plan a rooftop bar crawl

  • Go to a Cubs game or two and eat a Chicago hot dog

  • Enjoy a wine night in the back garden patio at La Creperie (1/2 price bottles on Tuesdays)

  • Have a picnic in the park and bring your dog

  • Eat on the patio at Parson's Chicken & Fish

  • Go to Jazz night at the Shedd Aquarium

  • Have a crepe at the Nutella Cafe

  • Have coffee on the patio at Heritage Bike & Coffee and take a photo by the Cubs mural

  • Ride your bike on the new bike trail along the lakefront (opening this summer)

  • Get tickets to watch the Cubs from the rooftop with a group of friends

  • Wait in line on a hot summer day for Jeni's Ice Cream

  • Walk the Riverwalk from Wacker/Lasalle to Navy Pier

  • Eat at Yardhouse and go a concert at New City on Thursday Nights

  • Dine on the patio at Tavern on Rush in the Gold Coast for some great people watching

  • Sit on the patio at Mercadito and enjoy the best margarita and get the spicy salt!

  • Take the green line to the Morgan stop and explore Fulton Market and the West Loop

  • Enjoy brunch at the new Beatrix in Fulton Market

  • Have coffee on the patio of Colectivo in Lincoln Park

  • Go to Stan's donuts with a your friends and each pick a donut and then split them with everyone

  • Cocktails on Shanghai Terrace

  • Use Hotel's Tonight to plan a Staycation (look for a hotel with a pool or rooftop)

  • Enjoy brunch or happy hour at Hampton Social

  • Enjoy a lychee martini on the patio at Le Colonial

  • Get a coffee at Ipsento and walk the 606

  • Have a date night in the back garden of Piccolo Sogno

  • Go to a Chicago Fire game, the stadium and energy are so fun

  • If you haven't done it take the Wendella architecture boat tour

  • Sign up for a free walking tour to learn more about Chicago history

  • Find a friend with a rooftop to watch the Air & Water Show

  • Listen to live music at Millennium Park

  • Split a Cooler Chocolate at BomboBar with a friend

  • Get an Italian ice at Mario's

  • Go to the Lincoln Park Farmer's Market on Wednesday or Saturday morning

  • Explore a Chicago neighborhood you have never been to

  • Hope that one of your friends will get a boat so you can enjoy the fireworks, hang out in the playpen, or listen to concerts from the boat.
