• 1. Vaccinations 

• Vaccinating your pet is an important, inexpensive way to give your pet a long and healthy life. During the first year of your dog or cat’s life, you should vaccinate them for rabies, parvovirus, and a variety of other diseases. For under $40, you can protect your dog from a bunch of scary diseases including respiratory disease, hepatitis, parainfluenza, distemper, leptospirosis, and canine parvovirus. And for your feline friend, you’ll be protecting him from feline rhinotracheitis, panleukopenia, calicivirus, and chlamydophila. If you invest in your pet’s health early, they’ll be thanking you later in cuddles and kisses.

• 2. Ear cleaning

• Most pets should have their ears clean each month, but the frequency is unique for each pet. Ear cleaning helps prevent wax build up and ear infections, and your veterinarian can check for ear mites in the process.

• 3. Microchipping

• If your precious pup or kitty sneaks out of your house, you’ll be thankful for microchipping. For under $20, the Animal League Wellness Center can implant a small microchip in your pet, so if he runs away and found, a shelter can scan his microchip and he’ll pop up in the international database. Your pet will be home in no time if you invest in a microchip.

• 4. Nail trimming

• Every pet deserves to be pampered a bit, and nail trimming is no exception. In fact, nail trimming should be considered an important part of your pet’s wellness. If you notice your pet’s nails click-clacking on hard floors, it’s probably time to bring them in for a trim. For an affordable cost much lower than most vets, you can guarantee that we will cut them in the best way in order to avoid cutting the nail’s blood supply, and keep your pet healthy and comfortable.

• 5. Fecal Flotation

• This unusual sounding routine test is just to check to see if your pet has intestinal parasites or worms. It’s an easy way to check up on your pet’s health, and if anything pops up on the test, our veterinarians can take care of the deworming for you, as well.

• 6. Anal Sac Expression

• Is your dog scooting across the floor on his behind? Or just seems to be sitting uncomfortably? It might be a sign he needs his anal sacs expressed. Sometimes a dog’s anal sacs fill with fluid and they need help releasing it. The veterinarians at the Animal League Wellness Center can perform the expression for your pup to help eliminate his discomfort while maintaining his hygiene.

• From fleas and ticks to heartworms, it’s important to be proactive about your fur baby’s health. Our veterinarians can help you decide what type of prevention products your pet may need, and tailor the products specifically for you.
