  • Your home should be checked once a week for peace of mind & to avoid catastrophies

  • Take photos and/or videos of the inside and outside of your homes in case a natural disaster occurs

  • Make a list of companies/vendors who you use or want to use in an emergency

  • Change all important batteries and have backups in the house

  • Inspect all plumbing fixtures and address any issues (no matter how small)

  • Ensure your homes security by making sure all window and doors lock and seal correctly

  • Install surge protectors and/or unplug items that don\'t need to stay on

  • Cover all toilet seats with plastic wrap and close lids

  • Make sure your garbage is taken out

  • Make sure you throw away all perishable items

  • Be sure to trim all branches and bushes around your home

  • Be sure to secure all pool and patio furniture

  • Forward mail and stop other deliveries

  • Put one or two lights on a timer for the venings

  • Turning your water off - to avoid floods

  • Turning your fridge off - If you do, make sure to clean the fridge completely and leave the doors open in order to avoid mold

  • What temperature to leave your thermostat and humidistat on - A humidistat should be set at 60 degrees. Thermostat can be set between 80 - 84 degrees max

  • Install hurricane shutters for the whole season - huge fire hazard
