Generation II Pokemon Available in Generation III Games

Locations of all 99(+1) Generation II Pokemon available in Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, FireRed, and LeafGreen Versions for the Gameboy Advance. Also includes information about Pokemon Colosseum and XD: Gale of Darkness for the GameCube. This guide is intended for players who wish to complete the National Pokedex using only Generation III Pokemon games.

  • The bare minimum games required to complete this checklist are Pokemon Emerald and LeafGreen Versions for the GameBoy Advance and Pokemon Colosseum and XD: Gale of Darkness for the GameCube. Emerald Version must be restarted a total of three times for all Hoenn Starters and completed twice for Latias and Latios. LeafGreen will need to be restarted and the Elite Four will need to be defeated three times to unlock the ability to trade and to receive all three Kanto Starters. It is recommended to store captured Pokemon on a GameCube game. The GameCube games are the only way to obtain Ho-Oh and Lugia legitimately.

  • If the GameCube games are not obtainable, all five GameBoy Advance Games (Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, FireRed, and LeafGreen Versions) will be required. In this case, the Emerald Version Pokedex will need to be completed three times for the Johto Starters. The Elite Four will need to be defeated in both FireRed and LeafGreen Versions, and either FireRed or LeafGreen Version will need to be restarted and completed again to receive all three Kanto Starters and Legendary Beasts. Ho-Oh and Lugia will be unobtainable without a cheating device.
