Informational Writing: Self- Assessment Checklist

I hooked my reader and introduced my topic.

I wrote facts and details about each sub-topic.

I used transition words to add and connect my facts and details.

I gave definitions for important words.

I organized my writing with headings and/or a table of contents.

I wrapped up my writing with a closing statement.

I used adjectives and adverbs to add more details to my writing and make it interesting.

I used the word wall and broke down my words to give my best spelling.

I used punctuation marks at the end of every sentence and commas when I make a list of 3 or more items or have a natural pause.

I used capital letters at the beginning of a new sentence, the word “I”, and for proper nouns.
